They maintain standards and confidence in qualifications in England.They are independant of government and report directly to parliament. Pure Gym 

PureGym is the UK’s leading gym operator providing low-cost and high-quality fitness facilities for more than 840,000 members spread across 170 sites. Pure Gym was launched in 2009 and pioneered the model for affordable, flexible, high-quality fitness clubs in the UK. Members pay monthly and have no contract commitment. Most of its 170 gyms are open 24 hours a day across the UK and offer a full range of top of the line equipment including cardiovascular equipment, fixed-resistance and free weights. Each gym offers over 220 pieces of fitness equipment and up to 80 group exercise classes each week delivered by around 1700 personal trainers. Pure Gym, the UK's leading gym operator, and PT Academy have launched the Pure Gym Academy, a partnership that will see Pure Gym open up its 170 sites accross the UK in order to train new personal trainers. The partner ship will see an increase in the number of PT Academy courses available nationwide.

Register of Exercise Professionals (Exercise Register)

Launced in 2002, REPs is an independent, public register which recognises teh qualificvations and expertise of health-enhancing exercise instructors in the UK. REPs provides a ssystem of regulation for instructors and trainers to ensure that they meet the health and fitness industry's agreed national Occupational standards.

REPs provides assurance and confidence to the public and employers that all professionals on the register are appropriately qualified and have the knowledge and skills to perform their role effectively.

REPS was developed to protect the public from "cowboy" and "rogue" trainers who do not hold the correct or appropriate qualifications.

The Personal Trainer Academy is an approved training provider offering qualifications by accredited awarding organisations.

Register of Fitness Professionals (Fitness Register)

The Fitness Register is the first independent international register of approved instructors and health club operators.The register provides details of approved instructors. The register also serves to bring awareness of career opportunities offered by health club operators and fitness institutions.

The Fitness Register is unique as it recognise sport science degrees/diplomas as well as conventional fitness and personal training qualifications.The register ensures high standards are maintained within the industry sector. Membership of the Register of Fitness Professionals provides confidence to members of the public and quality assurance to prospective employers. The register ensures that all registered exercise professionals are appropriately qualified and have the knowledge, competence and skills to perform specific roles.

The Personal Trainer Academy is an approved training provider endorsed by the Fitness Register.
